Rarely a proposal for a contest is worth publishing just due to the fact that it is a not-done-yet project because it might not be applicable to reality, in other words, a good sketche, a bad design. The Dalian Library proposal from 10 Design is definitely within that rare group; a really powerful building flowing up to the skies.
At the core of the three of Olarra’s Winery facilities, lies an area dedicated to taste the wines, a bar, a small shop, a place to exhibit wine within a comfortable and visually rich place. Wood, Aluminum and Glass are the main characters in this area.
Featuring two ambiances each one different and using different materials and lighting, the Barrio 47 restaurant designed by Bluarch bounds this two inner areas maintaining the unity in design but still offering the visitor a great view and feeling, a rich experience overall.
The architectural solution had to respond to numerous conditioning factors: its location opposite the Guggenheim Museum, the fact that it is work on an existing building as a result of different alterations, its structural conditions, its position between party walls, and its opposing façades. The architectural proposal had to maintain enough humbleness compared to its architectural surroundings, the museum and the architecture of the Ensanche, without relinquishing a personality defined by use and by the unmistakable desire to present a sincere and ambitious proposal while refraining from competing.
Bluarch creates a majestic installation: Idea Lab, it invites to interact with the environment wich is warm and welcoming, reason for wich drives the user’s mind to inner-meditation.
